The hippest art exhibition is coming to New York!
NY Coo Gallery in May is proud to present gHip Festivalh, an exhibition of paintings and performances by TakashiP.

The hips as artistic toolsc Put paint on the buttc Sit on paperc Rub, smear, turn, squeezec There you have it, a brilliant butt print.
TakashiP began using his own hips as an artistic motif while studying sculpture at Wako Universityfs Art Department. After graduating in 2004, TakashiP, a frequent visitor to New York City, continued his creative activities in Japan. Consisting of pertinacious blend of fetishism, narcissism and egotism, his love and obsession for the hips | his own hips in particular | became the source of his inspirations, essences of his creativity. Soon, his fundoshi (traditional Japanese menfs underwear) -clad hips started showing up in public places.
gI can go anywhere in the world and communicate with my butt,h says TakashiP. His art | including public exposure of his hips | is the product of avant-garde/pop art mixed with primitive, instinct-driven creative desires.
People crowd Times Square. They all come with one purpose | to have fun. Times Square is where you can find all kinds of human emotions. gTimes Square,h according to TakashiP, gresembles traditional Japanese festivals.h
The exhibition recaptures the essences of traditional Japanese festivals | human-packed sidewalks, street vendors and performers, all that noise and everythingc Covering every inch of the wall with Hip Art. Brightest of colors and intriguing shapes combine to create a festive, carnival-like mood. With obvious self-intoxication and cool inner objectivity, TakashiP makes people laugh, stare and think on his way to laugh at himself.

No festival is complete without an attraction or two. So wefve scheduled three live Hip Paint performances (painting directly on the gallery wall with a gbutt brushh) during the course of the exhibition. Donft miss this fant-ass-tic opportunity to be one of the first people outside of Japan to witness the fine art of Hip Painting. Performance dates are May 9th, 16th and 17th.

-------------------------------------------------- News Letter --------------------------------------------------

The opening reception for TakashiP's solo exhibition entitled gHIP FESTIVAL,h featuring a live hip painting performance, was held on the evening of Friday, May 9th.

Everyone had a great time eyewitnessing what is called Hip Painting where the artist uses his hip as a paint brush. The deliciously concocted  original "Salami Pizza" brought inspired laughters from the hungry audience.

There will be two more performances scheduled on 5/16 (6:30pm) and 5/17 (3:00pm). Don't miss them if yo missed the first one!
The exhibition runs through may 24th.
