New Year/First Anniversary Special Exhibition
gCOLORS of KYOTO | Tradition and Flamboyance in Various Shadesh

In COLORS of KYOTO | Tradition and Flamboyance in Various Shades, a special exhibition featuring works by two of todayfs most prominent Kyoto artists, the focus is placed on Koto-no-Bi, or the beauty of an old capital, which, while maintaining its traditional aesthetic values, allows itself to change | evolve - with times.

Akira Fujisawa combines the traditional art of frame-making and abstract beauty of modern art to create screens that are bold in color and composition yet delicate - even soothing - in over-all mood. On the other hand, Yuho Tanaka, a Noh mask maker, strives to bequeath the traditional craftsmanship of Noh mask-making into another generation. Deeply rooted in artistic sensibilities unique to Kyoto, both Mr. Fujisawa and Mr. Tanaka successfully bring together the aesthetic sophistication and a stunning visual impact through their work.

We hope youfll join us for this very special occasion.
